LOUIS PORTER »CONFLICT RESOLUTION« – selected by DANIEL BOETKER-SMITH

»Louis Porter’s CONFLICT RESOLUTION is like nothing I’ve seen before — it’s garish, overwhelming, obsessive, smart, and it’s a little bit mad. Porter calls his subject matter perforations — a collection of fragments, markers and traces of minor urban conflicts, violence, hate or disunity — a broken key, road kill, paper airplanes, some discriminatory graffiti, or a carton of spilt milk. Collectively, it creates what all good photography should: a mirror from which to garner new understandings of ourselves and our surroundings.«
