ANTHONY CAIRNS »LDN2« – selected by ARON KORIECH MOREL

»Unreal City. Here the chartered streets of London near where the chartered Thames does flow. Dirty old river. In the shadows quiet voices like rats feet over broken glass, and under the yellow glow of a winter night the brutalist-structures-towering-gloom. Balfron tower in the cast iron sky — this town, ain‘t nothing but a ghost town … the youth on the shelf. Solarized in urban alchemy — the flaneur stumbling in the neon grove observes the fleeting phantasmagoria between the shadows. Here is London — night city — whispers in the concrete. Swarming city. City of dreams — dashed dreams. Soon the galvanized dawn over St. Paul’s. The city shivers. Last night‘s specters in plain daylight tug at your sleeves. Soon, the masses over Waterloo bridge — so many, I had not thought death had undone so many. Shape without form, shade without color Paralyzed force, gesture without motion. Solarized. Galvanized. Permanent. Grey.«
