MASAFUMI SANAI »SEKISHA (RED CAR)« – selected by JOACHIM BROHM

»With his book ‘I Don’t Know (Wakaranai)’ in 1998 Masafumi Sanai already created a homage to his white Toyota Grande Mark II by using romantic snow scenes. He followed this up in 2001 with a second volume, an even more dedicated personal “automobile history”: ‘Car Of Mine’. The daily life of the yellow Nissan Skyline 25 GT is displayed in a compact book format, supported in its sleekness by images of the, also yellow, highspeed train Shinkansen. 2009 sees with ‘Sekisha (Red Car)’ the current culmination of Sanai’s trivial-genial uncompromising books: 43 x 43 cm large with 43 photographs of his new red Nissan R35 GT-R with its 485 PS. Eye candy, in form and content!«
