MASAYUKI YOSHINAGA »SENTO« – selected by KATSUMI OMORI

»This book tells me about the attraction of a communal bath house in Japan. Yoshinaga has captured the 61 loveliness and pathos of naked men. Yes, I could recognize the naked loveliness and pathos of being a man. The book includes an essay by the photographer. Yoshinaga writes about his memories of the bath house he used to go to with his friends in his youth. “The sento was a place of social gathering, a place to play around, a place of relaxation, and a place to exchange information. It was an important place for us to relax and gather together.” There are five variations for the cloth-bound book cover. The texture of the cover’s cloth is like that of traditional Japanese towels.«
